Kids who love things that go 💨 are gonna love these transportation-themed Airbnb and hotel options, all family friendly and focused on FUN.
The Retro TWA Hotel at the Airport
Location: JFK Airport, Jamaica, New York
Step back in time in this 1962-modeled hotel, the only on site at New York’s JFK Airport. (Which surely you’ve noticed if you’ve flown into or through!) With more than 500 rooms, it’s a sight to behold.
Explore the property, dip into the zero-entry rooftop pool that’s open year round or check out the museum exhibits. Order up a drink while the kids marvel inside the only plane-turned-hotel-lobby-bar, a 1958 Lockheed Constellation, where they can sip a Shirley Temple. Complete your stay with a visit to the life-size Twister room.

A Historic Train Depot Turned Airbnb
Location: Hudson Valley, New York
Train lovers will flip over this modern take on a historic 1902 train depot reimagined as an Airbnb with two bedrooms and two baths. One particularly mod bedroom – the clear kid’s favorite – offers six private sleeping spaces and is modeled after a train’s sleeper car. Throughout the home, antique touches like a 1902 ticket window exist. Outside, a 1940 caboose transports guests back in time with limited but useful space inside. Nearby, in the full fenced yard, string lights twinkle over a bonfire. Whether you’re looking to disconnect and unwind or simply soak up the colorful history of this charming home in Accord, it’s sure to deliver.

Autocamp’s Airstream Retreat
Location: Joshua Tree, CA (and elsewhere)
Retro Airstreams sleep up to four guests in these family friendly resorts that are just as much about the outdoors as they are about the modern RVs that dot the desert scenery. Near the National Park, this Autocamp is one of several strategically positioned near parks throughout the U.S. In a 31’ Airstream, you’ll find a queen bedroom with panoramic window, and a futon that folds out to a double bed sleeping up to two kids or one adult. A private bathroom - plus a luxe outdoor shower in some options - and a kitchenette makes life with littles more convenient. A patio, bonfire pit and outdoor dining area allow your own space for Al fresco meals, so you can dabble in outdoorsy while never needing to pitch a tent.
